Vaccuum packing - Got donations?
August 25th, 2007
Today I spent about 3 hours sorting through items we are taking, making sure they go in the right suitcase and vaccuming packing things so that there is enough room for 50lbs in each. We have 2 suitcases totally packed, my carry on is partially packed with baby items and soon we will have school supplies and more socks and underwear to pack another. We still have room folks! Don’t be shy if you have something to give. If you don’t know what, we are suggesting a Wal-Mart gift card so we can fill in the cracks with last minute necessities.
We are still recieving money donations with the paypal donation link below - Praise the Lord we have been given $762.00 of our needed $1200.00 for this trip. ( Thank you to those who came to the car wash and have donated in other ways.) You can still reach me at (208) 722-7309 or email me at mary@genesisgenius.com my mailing address is 27916 Klahr Rd Parma, ID 83660 and support can be sent at any time. Rembember we are leaving a week from tomorrow!
Tomorrow Pastor Mark Cox will be praying with us who are leaving the country (including Kyli Stark, who is going to the Dominican just 3 days before us). Please pray for us all as we seek to serve as the Lord calls. Thank you for your fellowship and for comments, it’s encouraging to know you are supporting us in this.
Leaving for Haiti September 2nd. Greetings from Idaho!
August 9th, 2007
I was pleased to find I’ve been linked to from this blog When the taptap’s movin’, GET A GRIP, STAY SEATED & PRAY! (Thank you Nadia for the comment and email.)
Hey Everyone, Isaac and I have purchased tickets for September 2nd through the 19th. We found them at a discount and went ahead and bought them in faith that we would recieve enough donations to help us afford it. Currently, we’ve raised $100.00. We need to raise an additional $1100.00 by August 20th. If we cannot raise enough funds we may have to cancel our tickets, so please donate now using the paypal button or write a check or give cash! I keep a detailed account of who donates, and appreciate email address so I can keep you updated. Please pray for us, and come to the car wash next week. It’ll be advertised in the Parma newspaper and we’ll spread the word around what day etc. If you plan to donate after the 20th, please call me at 208-722-7309 or if you’d like to help us get together a yard sale at the co-op in Parma, let me know. We can’t do this without your help, so please do!
Mary
P.S. We’ll be blogging in Haiti again, and keeping everyone updated, so check back here often during September.
Interested in Helping? Parma newspaper readers…
July 12th, 2007
Hey everybody, thanks for stopping by! If you are interested in helping in any way, just give me a call or email me. I like comments, so please leave them too.
You know, I’ve got a few specific things that are not on the need lists (see tabs above) and I wanted to mention these in case you have a way to help.
I am saving up stuff to take in August and need some short term storage space. If you’ve got an empty garage or somewhere to keep donations and would like to donate a space to keep the stuff, let me know.
At HCH we use a lot of hand sanitizer, it’s a constant need in the nursery to keep germs down. I have a practical solution to this, which is to buy a dispenser like the ones that are used in food service and mount it on the wall, then buy the big jugs of sanitizer. If you want to help with this, let me know.
Cloth diapers are a big need at HCH, and I’ve recently heard as well that they are a need in the Dominican Republic where the Vedal and Joy Reyes family serves. If you know how to sew or would like to help buy fabric or cut fabric, we are going to get together locally to make cloth diapers. We’ve got patterns, but some odds and ends like velcro, elastic and thread are still needed. Let me know if you want to help.
The children at CFNE and HCH need clothes. A bunch of us local ladies are planning to get together and sew for them. We have a few simple patterns and even if you don’t sew, you could help by cutting or pinning or other things. We’ve got some fabric, but more can be used. Let me know if you want to come and if you have a sewing machine, scissors etc.
By clicking the donate button below, you can use your Visa or Mastercard. To indicate to which of these or other items you would like to fund, just leave a note with your donation. (If it’s left blank, funding will be used where most needed.)
You can send checks or give cash as well, I live right here in Parma and work at the Co-op, so if you want to give it to me when you see me, even $5 goes a long way!
*Liturature in Kreyol* Got a blog? How about fish…
June 25th, 2007
Well, I found this place that prints Bible booklets in Kreyol, it’s WM Press. They’ve got liturature in sooo many languages, so make sure you check then out if you are into mission work anywhere.
I’ve come across a couple of people with Haiti interest and blogs that I want you to see. The Blesh family is leaving in August to live in Haiti for a year as Missionaries working at Quisqueya Christian School.
Jodi went to Haiti in October last year, you can visit Her Xanga.
And Hey, I got a comment from Neil, one of the guys that was at Haiti Children’s Home shortly after I left, and he’s got a blog with videos of the kids, so go watch his videos and see what he’s up to Neils blog
Oh, I was reading on MAF about some of the things they’ve done in Haiti. They’ve delivered fish! Guess what for? An orphanage to RAISE for a continued food supply. Cool eh?
Me and the School Children at Haiti Children’s Home

More Details! - *Check the Page Links for donation lists*
June 8th, 2007
Dear Friends,
My brother Isaac and I, and our friend Justin, have made plans to go to Haiti for a two week Mission trip in August. Justin was in Cuba earlier this year and Isaac has been interested in going with me since I went earlier this year to work at Haiti Children’s Home. We have not finalized the dates, as we have to wait for Isaac’s Passport to come back, but we will be preparing to go.
The first week’s focus for this trip is going to be to visit CFNE orphanage in Gonaives. We will be bringing supplies such as we are asking to be donated, and hopefully finding a solution to help the kids to get one more meal - at least on school days, (we are going to start by trying to locate a more affordable food source in Port-au-Prince.) It will be our priveledge to live at the orphanage with these children, (some of which are our own ages,) eating with them and sleeping in the same accommodations. You’ll hear about us going to bed hungry too!
The second focus will be to visit Haiti Children’s Home where we will be working with Pat and doing some extra projects she has for us. I’ll be spending time with the babies and washing diapers, (of course) and Isaac and Justin are going to help Thym, (Pat’s daughter’s godson) set up his computer and help him record a CD, (which we will be giving away as soon as it is complete to help get the word out about Thym’s ministry.)
Logistics
The cost of our Tickets will be around $700 each, and the trasportation in Haiti, food, and other expenses could be as much as $300 per person. We know that the Lord will bless us with the means if it is indeed His will that we go and minister in Haiti. $3000 is not difficult for God!
We will each have 100 pounds of luggage space to bring donated items, plus each a 40 pound carry-on for personal clothing and anything else that will fit that we can leave there.
Please consider us and pray about donating to our ministry, we’ll leave it in the Lord’s hands, and you’ll be hearing more about us soon!
Sincerely in Christ,
Mary, Isaac and Justin
P.S. There are 6 bibles in the CFNE orphanage and the Children only have a short time to read at night after school assignments are complete. Having to share with 10 others is hard, so many of them don’t read the Bible often. Creole Bibles can be purchased for the older children to share at $8 each. If you would like to provide for a Bible to be purchased in Port-au-Prince for a CFNE Child, please respond.
Going to go again - Lord willing! *Free Teleseminar*
May 31st, 2007
Hey Everybody,
I’ve been praying about it, and thinking things through and I believe I’ll be going to Haiti again in August or September. I don’t have any details yet, but I am planning on going for 2 weeks this time. (I would love to go for longer, but I need to keep my job and that’s a long time to take off.)
I am going to do a “Teleseminar” on Sunday the 6th of June at 6:00 pm (Mountain time). It’s free of course, and I’ll be answering questions (your questions too) about my trip to Haiti. If you’ve never been to a teleseminar, it’s easy - you just call the number, which is 218-486-3696 and use Conference ID: 336965# and you’ll connect right in. The only draw back is that it will cost you long distance, so if you don’t have reasonable long distance… Most people have pretty good long distance, and if you have a cell phone with free weekends, that would work too. The other thing you can do is tune in on the web with your headphones/speakers.

Goodbye Moxie Java!
May 4th, 2007
Well everyone, I don’t have a job at Moxie anymore. I guess this means I’m not coming back. I miss you all! I can’t believe how much I miss my job and the people I serve… It’s been an awesome 3 years, and you’ve all become a part of my life. It’s not something I can easily move out of, so maybe you’ll see me around visiting with my sisters and friends while they work the counter. Hope we cross paths again, and just so you know, you still mean a lot to me!
Home is so cozy… I miss my babies!
April 23rd, 2007
Well, it’s actually pretty cold here, but a nice blanket by the fire takes care of that. I miss my babies! David and Joanna, Eddie and James… I wish I could have Gerald to play with, I’ve heard he’s walking more and I’m missing it! I went yard sailing (pun intended) and found a couple of really cute boys shirts, I had to buy them of course. I’ve told everyone how I want Gerald, and they just say I’ll have to get married, - I just say as soon as I am asked by a particularly good fellow I suppose I will get married at which point if Gerald is still there, (and my aquired husband is agreable to the idea) then we’ll just have to attempt to adopt him. It’s a little more complicated though, and I would be very happy if another family were to adopt him, especially if they lived around here…
So I’ve been cooking. I tried to preparesome chicken like the Haitians do, and I failed to season it properly in that I forgot the salt and pepper. Oh joy! The rice and sauce I made wrong too, and I may have learned a thing or two. I’ll have to ask Thym as he was sure he knew how to cook (I never witnessed him doing such a thing).
I talked to Pat last night and she said she brought the twins to Church yesterday. They are 2 and a half months old now, and around 10 lbs each. Christopher Patrick and Christian Pateicko, (named after Pat for the middle names.)
I’ll report again, I’m getting settled in and probably will be doing some speaking soon at various locations.
Pulling out… Gonna have to say goodbye!
April 16th, 2007
Hey Everybody,
I’m getting ready to go this morning. Please keep me in your prayers for the next 48 hours, I’ll be traveling. I am going to Port-au-Prince today and will be staying the night at Blueridge mission, and will be taking off at 10:15 Lord willing.
See ya all soon, I’ll post when I get home!
